The old saying goes “a picture is worth 1,000 words,” meaning that one picture can relate as much as one thousand words can describe. The Society’s photo collection contains over 20,000 photographs and the Society has been able to scan thousands of other images owned by individuals. Sometimes the pictures have information written on the back that helps identify the person, place, or subject. Other times, pictures are unlabeled but sometimes through clues in the image, the story behind what is shown can be determined. Some of the Society’s best “story-telling” photos will be shown on Thursday, March 6 at 6 pm by SCHS Executive Director Paul Wolter in partnership with the Carnegie-Schadde Memorial Public Library in Baraboo. This presentation is also free and open to the public and will be held in the library’s auditorium.
