RACE AMITY:

It involves an 1,150 mile bicycle ride from Madison, WI to Montgomery, AL and three days in Montgomery visiting the EJI Memorial for Peace and Justice, the Rosa Parks Museum, the Southern Poverty Law Center, and the EJI Legacy Museum.

It's not simply inter-racial friendship, but a conscious commitment to meaningful cross-cultural relationships that allow us to express our many layered identities and our communities of racism. This vision embraces both the scientific truth and moral principle that we are one human family.

Of the 14 riders to date who have signed on for the 2-week-long Riders for Race Amity project (June 14-28), seven are youth (ages 14-18). They include teenagers with Korean, Colombian, African American, Arab, Persian, Bolivian, and European heritages.

They have developed a 45-minute presentation on racial amity. It includes stories, discussion, and an art activity.
